Gartner's Top Technology Trends 2025: What They Mean for Data Science

Gartner is a global consulting and research firm that provides strategic insights to enterprises and governments worldwide. After registering your details, its Top Technology Trends 2025 report is available free of charge. The report presents the ten most important technology trends along with predictions expected to materialize over the next three to five years.

If you're interested in the full top ten, the report is well worth reading. As in previous years, artificial intelligence dominates the list. While around six of the ten trends in last year's report were directly related to AI and its applications, this year nine out of ten are AI-driven.

One of the clearest examples of AI's growing importance is Agentic AI. In last year's report, it appeared primarily as an emerging use case, whereas this year it ranks as the number one technology trend.
